Chipotle Review

The first Chipotle was in Denver,Colorado, the owner is Steve Ells. Chipotle is considered a fast food restaurant. However, Ells didn’t want a “normal” fast food place. He wanted to create “Food With Integrity”. How did he do this? Well, Ells journey began with learned how the animals were being raised. He also learned another way the raises animals with respect and sustainable resources. That means no added hormones, steroids, or pesticides. After learning this, he meet with farmers and ranchers that raised their livestock this way. Yes it costs more and yes it more work, but Ells did not care. He wanted to create food that tastes good and has integrity. So much so that the Chipotle motto is “Food with Integrity”. He took it a step further with the idea that animals, people, and the environment will not be harmed by the Chipotle industry.

That is the history and beginning of Chipotle. Now, on to how the food tastes with no hormones, steroids, and pesticides. It is phenomenal! You have so many options; such as a burrito, burrito bowl, soft or crispy tacos, or just a plain bowl. What goes in it is all up to you. First you can choose white or brown rice, black or pinto beans, or peppers. Next comes the meat; braised carnitas or barbacoa, adobo-marinated and grilled chicken or steak. However, the company has recently released a tofu option called sofritas. Then to the toppings! You have of course your salsa -mild, medium, or hot-, cheese, corn, sour cream, lettuce, and guacamole. After all of that you have the option of Chips and Salsa/Guacamole. It is then all put on a tray and you are off to your table!

Chipotle is not just about the food, its about the whole experience. Upbeat music is always on, it makes the vibe positive yet relaxing. When Ells created the first Chipotle, he was on a tight budget. So, he had to use inexpensive hardware materials such as plywood and barn metal. When the industry began to grow Ells saw no need to change the design. That’s why Chipotle’s around the world have the same unique style.

I encourage you (if you haven’t already) to go to your nearest Chipotle. The company wasn’t expected to be big, but through the work of Steve Ells one restaurant turned into a full fledged franchise. The company and more importantly the food is astounding. I have a since that Chipotle will be around for years to come. So, grab your friends and go to your nearest Chipotle to experience a “fast food” restaurant like you have never before.
